What is COPD?
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, refers to a group of diseases that cause airflow blockage and breathing-related problems. It includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, wheezing and recurrent respiratory tract infections are common.
What causes COPD?
Smoking or second-hand smoke is the major factor in the development and progression of COPD. Air pollutants in the home and workplace, genetic factors, and respiratory infections also play a role. Early detection of COPD may change its course and progress.

How do we treat?
COPD can be treated in many different ways such as:
- Oxygen
- Bronchodilators
- Steroids
- Pulmonary Rehab/Exercise
- Smoking cessation
- Anti-Cholinergics
- Changes to daily lifestyle
