Daily Schedule
Typical Schedule on the Floors:
7:00 a.m.: The residents arrive, and the night float team signs out the patients to the team on short call and discuss any issues that may have occurred the night before.
7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.: Morning report begins, PGY-1s present and discuss cases with a teaching faculty.
9:00 a.m.: The residents participate in the interdisciplinary rounds in which they discuss the plan with the various members of the care team including nurses, social workers, case managers, and physician advisors.
9:30 a.m. – Noon: The teams break off to evaluate their patients and discuss the plan for the day, round with the hospitalists and attend teaching rounds with faculty attendings.
Noon – 1 p.m.: Noon lecture.
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Finish any pending orders, notes and work left and sign out their cases to the on-call teams.
4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.: The call team admits patients from the ER, address any issues on the floors and follow up on sign-outs from the day team.
