Daily Schedule
Typical Schedule on the Floors:
6:30 a.m. – the intern comes in to do pre-rounds on their patients. They discuss any issues that may have occurred the night before and develop a plan for the day.
7:15 – 8:15 a.m. – Morning Report begins. The cases that were admitted the previous day are discussed with a teaching faculty and chief residents
8:15 – 9 a.m. – The night float team signs out the patients to the team on short call and the teams break off to discuss the plan on their patients
9 – 9:30 a.m. – The senior residents participate in the interdisciplinary rounds in which they discuss the plan with the various members of the care team including nurses, social workers, case managers, and physician advisors.
9:30 a.m. – noon – The team works with the physicians either in person or over the phone to discuss the management of their patients as well as write the notes for the day.
noon – 1 p.m. – Noon lecture
1 – 4 pm. – The residents finish any work left and sign out their cases to the on call teams.
4 – 8 p.m. – The call team admits patients from the ER and address any issues on the floor
