From L-R: Ted Rawley, director of operations for Saint Michael’s Mobile HealthCare, Harrison Mayor James Fife, Harrison Fire Director Harold Stahl, Saint Michael’s CEO Alan Sickles, MD and Louis Greco, COO of Saint Michael’s Mobile HealthCare.

Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark has assumed operations of the emergency medical services from the Town of Harrison, ensuring residents of the Hudson County community will continue receiving high-quality health care.

“This partnership strengthens the safety net for every family in Harrison,” said Mayor James A. Fife. “Saint Michael’s brings deep experience, proven clinical excellence and a true commitment to our town. Our residents can feel confident knowing that when they call for help, highly trained professionals will respond quickly and deliver the exceptional care they deserve.”

The transition ensures uninterrupted 911 coverage and aligns Harrison’s EMS operations with a nationally recognized, award-winning hospital.

“We are honored to take on this critical responsibility,” said Saint Michael’s CEO Alan Sickles, MD. “Our mission has always been to deliver compassionate, reliable, and high-quality care to the communities we serve. By managing Harrison’s ambulance operations, we’re expanding that commitment and strengthening the continuum of care from the moment an emergency call is made all the way through treatment at our hospital.”

Saint Michael’s recently received an A for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group for the fourth period in a row. Saint Michael’s was the only hospital in both Hudson and Essex counties to receive the top-letter grade from the watchdog group. Saint Michael’s also is the only hospital in Hudson and Essex counties to receive a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Under the new arrangement, residents will see no disruption in ambulance response or service levels. Residents can request to be transported to Saint Michael’s or any area hospital.
