Resident Research
The Saint Michael’s Internal Medicine residency program offers many opportunities for resident research. Residents are taught the basics of conducting a research project, literature review, IRB approval and quality improvement. Additionally, all residents undergo a quality improvement (QI) curriculum where they are taught the fundamentals of QI and the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle, as well as actively work on a project together. Many residents are engaged in research projects in collaboration with senior faculty members. Residents often publish their research in peer-reviewed journals or present their projects as oral and poster presentations for many Internal Medicine and specialty conferences. Our residents have presented their research projects in the following conferences in the past 2 years:
- American College of Physicians National
- American College of Physicians New Jersey
- American College of Cardiology
- American College of Gastroenterology
- American Heart Association
- American Thoracic Society
- Chest conference
